Alexander the Great Silver Drachms
336-323 B.C.
Alexander the Great was one of the greatest generals the world has ever known. His exploits influenced the structure of the ancient world and still bear an effect upon the world of today; his life and his adventures have fascinated people ever since his death in 323 B.C. These silver coins were struck under his authority and show the bust of Alexander as Herakles wearing the skin of the Nemean lion. The reverse shows the head of the Greek Pantheon Zeus seated on a throne, with the name of Alexander behind in Greek. We can also supply picked coins in choice condition at £120 each (please email direct).
