Set in .925 silver this genuine Jewish bronze coin from the Hasmonean Kings of Judaea tells the true meaning of giving and was in circulation during the lifetime of Christ.The mite was referred to by Jesus in the Bible story when Jesus praised a poor widow for giving her only two coins, while the rich merchants gave only a small portion of their wealth. The coins were made of bronze and struck on weak dies so the design is now much worn from use but parts of the design remain making this a wonderfully symbolic item.
