Full Description
Roman, 2nd century A.D., North African Redawre wine flagon, rounded body, tapering cylindrical spout and single decorated handle, the body of the Jug with applied decoration of a gladiator with spear and shield with wreath above, and an Imperial Eagle with wreath above, each panel with palms at sides.
This is a spectacular example of a fine wine jug, it is believed that vessels of this type were given to winning gladiators.
