Full Description
Oxus Civilisation alabaster pot with everted rim.
Ca. 2200-1700 B.C
Example of the bactrio-margiana style in excellent condition.
Made by local stone carvers using stone imported from north western Afghanistan.
The Oxus peoples were a bronze age civilisation located in central Asia, centred on the upper Amu Darya.
They were primarily a farming culture; this piece most likely was used for storage during such farming practises.
