Full Description
Northern Qi Dynasty Armoured Figure, of the six Dynasties.
A.D 549-577
Figure stands foursquare facing forwards rooted to a terracotta plinth.
Rider is dressed in black and wears a red cloak draped diagonally across the body from the left shoulder, the folds of which have been realistically moulded. Black trousered and booted legs protrude from beneath the cloak and rest in stirrups. Arms rest by the riders side and hands are positioned as if to take hold of the horses reins. Features have been delicately moulded and the eyes and mouth have been depicted in black and red pigments. A helmet sits upon the riders head.
Horses head and body surmounted by multiple layers of armour, the scales of which have been painted in black pigment. Extensive pigment remaining
