    Yuan Dynasty Floral Yuhuchun Bottle

    A.D 1279-1368

    Sagging ovoid shaped yuhuchun bottlle with narrow neck, heavily everted rim, tall narrow base. Brownish stoneware, pale green glaze covering upper section with footring exposed with dark green applied gloss decoration, from top three green bands, floral motif encircling shoulder, most likely chrysanthemums, typical of the period, three green bands, swirl motif and green band. Shape and scheme characteristic of Yuan era. For other examples of similarly shaped, decorated yuhuchun bottles of the period cf. B.M.C Harrison Hall (2001) 1:3,1:4,1:17, 1:18.
