    Roman Colchester Brooch

    1st Century A.D

    Flat bow in continuous curve, indicating British origin decorated with small perforations diminishing to a rectangular sectioned pointed foot leaving no step to catch-plate. Spring of seven coils at head. Unusual to find perforations to bow as opposed to catch plate. Native British type, examples found across Britain dating from 1st Century A.D, including Lincolnshire, Suffolk and Wiltshire.
