    Ming Dynasty Attendant Groom

    1368-1643 A.D

Attendant groom with hand drilled and poised to take hold of horse's reign, wears long sleeved green glazed tunic crossed over at the neck, green trousers and black boots, atypical of the Ming period. Facial features depicted in black pigment, framed by tall tightly fitting black cap. 'Mingqi' (funerary models) were intended to serve the deceased in the afterlife; generic representations of men and women continuing in eternity to play the roles which they established during their lifetime.

    Excellent pigment and glaze remaining.
