Full Description
Ming Dynasty Male Servant
1368-1643 A.D
Male servant with right arm relaxed by side, hand concealed within sleeve of green glazed tunic extending to just above his black boots, atypical of the Ming period, left arm held in a fist in front of chest in homage. Features finely modelled framed by tall tightly fitting black cap.
'Mingqi' (funerary models) were intended to serve the deceased in the afterlife; generic representations of men and women continuing in eternity to play the roles which they established during their lifetime.
