    Large Han Dynasty Serving Lady

    206 BC-220 A.D

    Light grey earthernware with white, black, dark red and vermilion pigments; wears long sweeping white cross over robes with red and vermilion hems, assumes typical deferential pose with arms concealed within sleeves of robes. Dressed in the characteristic manner of Western Han females-hair is parted at the centre and pulled away from the face into low bun. Superb facial pigment remaining.
