Song Dynasty Pottery Pagoda
960-1279 A.D
Hexagonal sided pottery tower, three main storeys, middle two with psuedo wooden balustrades, shingled roofs supported by dougong brackets, openwork trellis decoration covering each face with red doors marking alternate faces. Base tier with supporting squatting figure flanking each face, openwork decoration, traces of red pigment remaining. Two part finial, lower conical part with floriate decoration in sharp relief and detachable second part with series of bulbous shapes and topmost conical apex. Measures almost a metre standing, each part is detachable, comes with display base and supporting frame.
