Mythical Figurines, Busts & Statues

The traditional religions of ancient Greece and Rome were polytheistic, meaning that their followers worshipped many different gods. Roman gods and Greek gods were conceived as anthropomorphic figures, but they were considered superior to men in power and in their physical attributes. For the most part, they were incredibly beautiful, immensely strong, and extraordinarily powerful. By creating votive statuettes and figurines, the ancients demonstrated their devotion to the deities to whom they felt closest, or whose favour they were most keen to secure.
