Ancient Roman Glass Unguentaria

Like balsamaria, ‘unguentaria’ were common objects of ancient Roman mould-blown glass, used for storing perfumed oils and cosmetics, as well as other expensive liquids and powders. Samples are found frequently at Greek Hellenistic and Roman sites, especially in cemeteries. This is because the ancients believed that the beauty routines, in which both sexes partook and for which such beautiful vessels were required, would continue into the afterlife. Ancient roman glass is one of our most popular categories – these beautiful ancient Roman perfume bottles are sought after by collectors and can add decadence and interest to both modern and traditional homes.
