Ancient Glass Jars, Flasks & Jugs
Many works of ancient glass and pottery were designed for tableware use, in particular for carrying and serving water and wine at banquets. Jugs, flasks, and jars were the most frequently used containers for this purpose and they came in a variety of dimensions and sizes. Globular glass flasks have a rounded bottom and narrow neck as they were used primarily to store and pour liquids. Piriform and elongated piriform glass flaskswere in use for about 100 years. These are basically pear-shaped, with a longer neck and a lip around the rim.
