Ancient Fossils, Teeth & Bones

Although fossils technically refer to the ancient remains of any living organism, these items often provide the opportunity to handle the history of millions of years ago. Fossils allow us to carve out the world’s geological history, telling us not only about the species from which they are formed, but also about the ecosystems in which they existed. We have tightly-packed rock strata to thank for the extraordinary preservation of our collection’s pieces, although there have also been remarkable finds in amber and permafrost- woolly mammoth remains being the most notorious fossils from the latter.
