Blue & White Shipwreck Pottery

Our blue and white porcelain shipwreck pottery has been confirmed by experts as excellent examples from the early period of Chinese Kangxi. Furthermore, their fine quality is indicative of manufacture in the famous porcelain centre of Jingdezhen in the Jiangsu Province: Jingdezhen kilns made porcelain for over two millennia, from as early as the Han Dynasty. Blue and white porcelain was the most famous product of Jingdezhen, and reached the height of its technical excellence in the early Ching Dynasty. The exquisite quality of the cobalt blue colouring is characteristic of fine porcelains from the early Kangxi period. This colour was referred to as ‘gem blue’ or ‘kingfisher blue’, and is much purer and brighter than that of Ming Dynasty wares.
