Greece

Greece remains one of the most important countries in terms of the influence and importance of its ancient art. Ancient Greek art can be classified according to the prehistoric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. Prehistoric art such as the Cycladic shows some influence from the art of ancient Egypt which largely continues throughout Greek art until the late Archaic period where the earlier, more totemic kouros sculptures see an increasing naturalism that would define the Greek style in the Classical and Hellenic periods. Throughout its history Greece also produced many extremely fine examples of jewellery and ceramics. The arts of Greece have seen enormous influence particularly evident in Roman art as well as as far as India.
