Anubis

The Ancient Egyptian god associated with the afterlife. In earlier representations, he was depicted as a black wolf. From the Middle Kingdom he was often depicted as a wolf-headed human. He was an embalmer, and was thought to protect mummies and graves. He was also the god who ushered souls into the afterlife, and until the Middle Kingdom, he was considered the lord of the underworld.
