Aten
Aten, god of the sun, was elevated to the central role of Ancient Egyptian religion and worship during the reign of Akhenaten. Originally a manifestation of Ra, the Aten and the cult of sun gained popularity in the 18th Dynasty. Akhenaten’s alteration of Egypt’s polytheism was unique and lasted only during his reign. The Aten had his cult centre at Amarna.
