Terracotta

Terracotta refers to clay that includes iron content and thus giving it its characteristic orange colour though this may vary greatly. Terracotta, being a low fire clay requires less advanced firing techniques and as such its use is extremely common. Examples from the classical world include pottery, statuettes and oil lamps. Terracotta was also used by the Indus Valley civilisation, Chinese statuary is also frequently made of terracotta as well as its being employed by other cultures around the world.
