In 1908, a huge hoard of silver pennies or ‘sterlings’ were found in the town of Brussells. Over 150,000 coins were revealed, making it one of the largest hoards of English coins ever to be found. The hoard was sold and a huge number of the coins were melted down for their silver value. These coins are in superb condition, showing the head of Henry III on the obverse, and a long cross on the reverse.
