The daisy’s pattern, with petals in a circle around a central button, is attested since the Old Reign, becoming ever more widely found during the New Reign. It is thought that the ancient Egyptians had gardens and loved to plant flowers. They used daisies to soothe the skin and to aid digestion, as the chamomile extract from the plant placates irritation and puffiness. Perhaps this amulet was accordingly used by someone seeking relief from irritation.
