The Georgian Era (1714-1830 AD) refers to a period in British history spanning over the reigns of the first four Hanoverian kings who were all named George. It is often extended to include the short reign of William IV, which ended with his death in 1837 AD. The period saw revolutionary changes in social and political aspects, such as the Industrial Revolution, the abolition of slave trade, the independence of the Thirteen Colonies leading to the establishment of the United States of America, and the expansion of the British Empire through naval exploration. In terms of arts, there was an emergence of romanticism, later shifting to realism, with Jane Austen being one of the most notable writers during the period. The Georgian Era also represents an architectural style characterised by symmetry and proportion inspired by classical Greek and Roman architectures.
