Western Asiatic White Hardstone Necklace

A fine Western Asiatic necklace made out of white hardstone beads. Most of the beads are circular and uniform in size, some more opaque than others. The center of the necklace is decorated with a group of five larger beads; pairs of oblong and circular beads frame the cylindrical bead in the middle. The piece is finished with a gold-plated clasp (please be aware that the clasp has not been professionally tied).

Condition: Excellent condition, necklace has been restrung. One of the oblong central beads displays some natural sediment on one side.Half length 22 cm

Hardstone refers to semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli, agate and carnelian. It was a very popular material within Western Asiatic jewellery as well as in architectural decorations such as mosaics.
