Scaraboids were amulets that lacked the anatomical features of the scarab. They could be designed in a number of shapes and forms, from simple rhomboid and circular beads to more complicated shapes. Animal shapes or human heads could all feature as scaraboids. They held similar apotropaic value to their scarab counterparts however.
