An early Roman twin handled sand coloured terracotta bowl, featuring a carinated form. The body displays a simple engraved geometric decoration comprising a central wavy band within linear bands above and below.

Condition: Fine, with signs of aging to the surface and a minor chip to the foot.

This interesting vessel might have been used in everyday life as a drinking bowl. However, bowls of this type were also used for ceremonial and religious practice, where adepts gathered together to drink from the same cup, which was passed from one to another.
