This flask from Cyprus dates to the late Bronze Age – a pivotal period in the island’s history. Around this time, Cyprus experienced two waves of Greek settlement – primarily Mycenaean traders, emigrating in the wake of their city’s collapse. The island was a client state of the Hittite empire, an Anatolian kingdom that reached its peak in the mid-14th Century BC.
