Rhenish-ware is a type of fine Roman pottery. It was produced in the Rhineland and central Gaul throughout the second and third centuries AD, and much of it was exported.

A wheel-made Rhenish-ware jar in orange terracotta. The vessel has a wide, circular rim, from which a single handle extends to the middle of the bulbous body. It stands on a short foot, and almost the entire surface is covered by earthy accretions.
Condition: Very Fine condition generally; complete and intact; just a minor irregularity to rim.
