These arrowheads come from the Classical period of Greek arrowhead production, spanning circa 480-223 BC. Arrows were integral to ancient Greek warfare throughout its sprawling history. Arrowheads of this type were used in major battles such as Plataea and Thermopylae in the Graeco-Persian Wars. Whilst the formation based phalanx movement is perhaps the most famous element of Greek warfare, arrows and archers were often used in attempts to pierce the phalanx itself, demonstrating the importance of these weapons.
