Bronze, an alloy of copper and tin, proved a much more durable and lethal material for arrowheads than previous copper iterations. This is a fact that is evident by the material’s sustained use in weaponry from 2200 BC to the late Byzantine era. Bronze’s properties also allowed it to be easily hammered or cast into desired shapes; a task that was likely carried out by the soldiers themselves, who could mass-produce arrowheads for upcoming battles. These particular arrowheads display a popular lanceolate (or leaf shape), which would come to be a favoured style among Anatolian and Transcaucasian civilisations, who mastered bronze production along with the notorious peoples of Luristan.
