Roman Silver Coins V – Carausius to Romulus Augustus

$27.80

This volume concludes the series of books dealing exclusively with the Roman silver coinage, covering a span of almost five centuries from the early third century AD to the late fifth century AD. The Roman silver coinage is amongst the most popular series with collectors of ancient coins, although not all emperors are represented by coins in that metal.

No book has previously listed all the major types known in this fashion. Dr King, of the Herberden Coin Room in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, is a noted numismatic authority on the period covered and to her authoritative listing David Sear has added valuations based on the most recent records and auction prices realised in Europe and America. A short biography precedes the listing of each emperor’s (or member of the Imperial family) coins; where no issues are known in silver for an individual but occur in other metals, a short note is provided on them for the sake of completeness. The listing will therefore be found to be of additional use as a commentary on the last centuries of the Roman Empire in the West.
