Agate

Agate is a crystalline silica stone that comes in many different colours and commonly forms attractive bands of colour. Agate was extremely popular in ancient jewellery where it may have been carved into shapes for use in earrings, or pendants and can be engraved for use in signet rings, a popular technique in ancient Rome, in ancient Egypt agate was commonly used for amulets.
