Serpentine

Serpentine is a stone with a mottled appearance in greens, browns and blacks often giving it the appearance of snake skin. Serpentine was used by the ancient Mesopotamians and by the ancient Egyptians who used serpent to form carved amulets as well as small cosmetic bowls and vessels. It is possible that in both of these cultures, serpent was believed to have curative powers over snake bites.
