Elephants
Elephants have long been associated with wisdom, docility and even piety due to their great size and power that contrasts their usually peaceful nature. However, particularly in the classical world, following the contestation with war elephants, particularly as experienced by Alexander the Great, the elephant became a symbol of military and authoritative power, later becoming the emblem of the Seleucid empire as can be seen on their coinage.
