Fruits & Berries
Fruit motifs are found throughout ancient art which is testament to their intrinsic significance in the cosmology of human artistic expression. It has even been suggested that our ability to see in colour is related to our evolutionary relationship with fruit collecting. Symbolically, fruits are commonly associated with divine generation and growth which is cause for their prominence in many myths of generation. Vines and fruit bearing branches are common decorative themes for carved friezes and painted boarders such as in Greek vases; other table ware also frequently makes appropriate use of fruit motifs.
