Iron Age

The Iron ages denotes not simply the production of iron but the production of carbon steel of a sufficient quality that it is superior in strength to bronze equivalents; in the Ancient Near East this occurred in the 12th century BC. Iron artefacts are typically weaponry, armour or tools, though some sculpture exists.
