Toggles were a popular piece for fastening clothing and garments, particularly heavy coats and leather harnesses. The original designs displayed a basic cylindrical shape and evolved to various designs enriched with enamel and geometric motifs. These fine examples display a large loop fastener and a smaller piercing used to attach to the fabric.
